Evaluation

Use evaluation questions to inform sustainable exploitation plans

Objectives

Green Value indicator

Evaluation questions in projects do not always consider environmental issues. Unless the project focuses specifically on the environment, it is easy to detach the project implementation from the environment and ignore its impact.
Project outputs are defined by project managers and if eco-related questions are not asked, the environmental dimension of the outputs will be lost, thus leading to potentially greater eco footprint.

Explanation

In project management, evaluation accompanies all stages of the project, including the future beyond project duration. Evaluation can focus on: Project activities are always evaluated, but are the right questions asked to ensure the implementation of a project is in line with set sustainability Objectives?

Each of these evaluation tools contains questions formulated by the project manager, but do these questions consider environmental impact? For example, a simple questionnaire about a project meeting could also provide additional information about the environmental impact: If the meeting was online, did you consider for parts of the meeting turning off the video feed to reduce energy consumption? or Did you consider the different environmental impact of meeting your partners online or in person? When it comes to project results (intellectual outputs): Does the content address environmental challenges / provide solutions even when sustainability is not the main focus?
