Evaluation

Measuring impact of a sustainably implemented project on beneficiaries' intended future behaviour

Objectives

Green Value indicator

CO2 savings

Explanation

Multipliers and implementation:
before the event or implementation: encourage participants and presenters to arrive by non-motorised or public transport

Then, as part of the event activities, measure how many people travelled by car (and approximate distance) compared to non-motorised or public transport -> you can even make this a challenge: “can we achieve a low per capita CO2 emission for our multiplier” or “the transport CO2 emissions of this multiplier were XX kg of CO2 per visitor”

Incorporate sustainability evaluation into the multiplier evaluation. You can a) ask your participants the following questions in hindsight or b) ask yourself or the event organiser these questions:
  1. How ecologically sustainable was the multiplier/implementation? (general question)
  2. Were reusable cutlery, crockery, etc. used?
  3. How much food waste did accumulate?
  4. Was food local, seasonal and mostly plant-based? / How local, seasonal and plant-based was the food? (See catering related Good Practice)
  5. Which means of transport did you use to reach the venue? What motivated your choice / was it possible to use public or non-motorised transportation?
  6. How easy was it to reach the chosen venue by public transport or non-motorised means?
  7. What can be done to make the multiplier event more sustainable?
In time, you will make use of broad feedback to develop more sustainable multiplier events: “Two heads are better than one.”
